Discontinuation of Grievous Bodily Harm charge

On 28 March 2014, a forty one (41) year old man from Chermside was charged by police in relation to one (1) count of grievous bodily harm. A comprehensive review of the medical evidence was undertaken by Nick Crawford of our office and resulted in the request for further medical evidence to be required from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Once this additional material was reviewed and a submission completed by Nick Crawford the DPP offered no evidence with respect to that charge of Grievous Bodily Harm and substituted the lesser charge of Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.

Nick Crawford later appeared before the Brisbane Magistrates Court where a plea of guilty was indicated to the lesser charge resulting in a $1,500.00 fine was imposed. No conviction was recorded.
